The most interesting lot was an original oil painting of a Gentleman by Hungarian artist – Antal Jansek, who was born in 1907 and died in 1985. A commission bid left by an early viewer, who could not stay for the auction won the artwork for £220.
Another item of interest was a nice Canterbury, well polished and in excellent condition. This fell to a room bidder for £110. A silver box from Babugarh, India and with engraved signatures from the Jacob Horse Regiment, hit it’s top estimate of £50. It is 50 years since the famous photo was taken of the Beatles crossing Abbey Road and a large framed poster went for £20 showing the Fab Four are still popular today.
Overall the auction went well with a good percentage of items sold. Nearly £300 was raised for the Alexandra Devine Children’s Hospice from donations by SAS Auctions.
The next sale is on 5th October at Badger Farm Community Centre. If anyone would like to put items in the sale please contact Claire Whale on 01962 734941.
