Top Fourteen Lots at Auction 7th March 2020

Despite the end of the world as we know it, riding up over the horizon, there was a normal attendance at March’s auction. Thank you for coming. About 200 people viewed and 100 stayed for the auction. The cake was consumed and plenty of the 315 lots were sold for good prices.

The top lot was a Collection of Early Post War Dinky Toys which attracted two earnest bidders and sold for £170. The next three were in the £80s: a Smiths Wall Clock, Triang and Lima diesel Locomotive, Coaches and Track, and a Red Mannequin Decorated with Costume Jewellery. The other ten included Cameras. a Hallmarked Manicure Set, 1877 Travel Pass issued by Earl of Derby, Toy Trains and Dinky Toys. More details and images below.

We have not planned to cancel the April auction. This may change due to Government guidance or our own health or thoughts as to what would be best for everyone. Based on our current health, we will able to run an auction in two weeks time.

Our next auction will be when the All CLEAR is sounds. Please subscribe to the web page to be kept to date with when this might happen or watch out for posts. You can also like/follow our Facebook page.

We wish you all the best for the next few months.

Auction Report for 7th October 2019

Viewing 7th September at Otterbourne
Viewing 7th September at Otterbourne
The new season started well with a busy auction at Otterbourne Village Hall. Over 350 lots were brought in on the day and a few surprises ensured an interesting auctionThe most interesting lot was an original oil painting of a Gentleman by Hungarian artist – Antal Jansek, who was born in 1907 and died in 1985. A commission bid left by an early viewer, who could not stay for the auction won the artwork for £220.

Another item of interest was a nice Canterbury, well polished and in excellent condition. This fell to a room bidder for £110. A silver box from Babugarh, India and with engraved signatures from the Jacob Horse Regiment, hit it’s top estimate of £50. It is 50 years since the famous photo was taken of the Beatles crossing Abbey Road and a large framed poster went for £20 showing the Fab Four are still popular today.

Overall the auction went well with a good percentage of items sold. Nearly £300 was raised for the Alexandra Devine Children’s Hospice from donations by SAS Auctions.

The next sale is on 5th October at Badger Farm Community Centre.

Auction Report for 6th July 2019

The July auction was hot and humming as Claire, the Auction’s premier auctioneer, navigated the 350 lots without pausing for a break, or even a breath!

Under the hammer went a vast range of interesting and unique items which appealed to the many buyers who attended the Badger Farm Auction, preferring to be soothed by Claire’s sultry tones as opposed to being sizzled by the burning rays outside.
Under the hammer went jewellery and silver – the hallmarked boxes appealing to the silver collectors, the two jewelled mannequins were picked up by a discerning buyer for £76 appreciating the individuality of these pieces. Collectors of old toys were not disappointed as Corgi and Britains featured in the sale. The end of the auction went with a bang as a 5 piece drum kit was sold.

The next auction is to be held on 7th September at Otterbourne Hall- we can’t promise sunshine but we can promise another sale of unusual and irresistible items! Look forward to seeing you then.
