An online timed auction from Auctions In a Day

Our first timed online auction is live now at https://bid.auctionsinaday.co.uk

It’s exciting times for Auctions In a Day. As you may remember from the announcement at our last auction, we’re trying out our first online, timed auction.

You’re probably already familiar with similar auction house offerings and ours is pretty much the same, with a few tweaks. It’s designed to help people who have quite a few items they want to sell. The main difference is that items are sold for collection only and the collection address may change each auction. For our first auction the collection will actually be at Weeke Community Centre (SO22 6HG) just before our in-person auction on 7th November.

This is how it all works:

  • We hold an online auction for a week;
  • Buyers can set their maximum bids and our system bids on their behalf;
  • If someone places a bid in the last minute the auction for that Lot extends by a minute;
  • When the auction closes Buyers are sent an invoice for items they bought;
  • They pay using an online link in the invoice;
  • Buyers collect their items the following weekend at a specific location, for our first auction this will be at our in-person auction which is being held at Weeke Community Centre (SO22 6HG).

Bidding for our online auction will open at 10am on Saturday 24 October but you can view the items already at:

https://bid.auctionsinaday.co.uk

We’ve got quite a varied catalogue with militaria, art glass, rare books, jewellery, coins and collectibles, including:

  • Signed studio glass by Sven Palmqvist and Per Lütken
  • Seven Pillars of Wisdom by T. E. Lawrence (1953) and a 1960 Lolita by Nabokov
  • A Charles I sixpence and penny, 17th century
  • Military caps, badges and WWII-era flags and ration books
  • A collection of 925 silver jewellery, rings and a vintage 1920s crystal radio

…plus around 60 more lots.

Please make sure you can collect your items before you start bidding. In exceptional circumstances we may be able to arrange an alternative collection window but please contact us first.

These are the key dates:

  • Bidding opens: 10am Saturday 24 October
  • Lots start closing: 5pm Saturday 31 October
  • Collection: 10am–1pm Saturday 7 November

A Buyer’s premium of 12.5% applies, the same as our in-person auctions.
